Work Experience
Excavator Operator
Hamtramck Recycling And Transfer-Hamtramck, MI
February 2024 to Present
I work on the tipping floor. I direct trailers to back up to my trac hoe and proceed to dig them out as efficiently and safely as possible. The trailers I deal with range from small trailers that people build up with plywood to 30 yarders. Some of the customs being ready to fall apart through gravity much less trying to squeeze my bucket in to them. It takes finesse to dig these out as their no wider than the hoe bucket. I take great care making sure they're happy with the results. When the customer pulls out a loader pushes the material to the spoil pile I'm perched on and and in between dig outs I load a compactor thats mated to a tractor trailer. When the trailer is full I compact it thoroughly while using my instincts to not over load it and drive the semi forward enough to get the doors closed. We scale out the semi to get the weight and then a new trailer is backed up and mated to the compactor. There is an emphasis on efficiency and speed so we dont fall behind on our spoil pile. Recyclables like cardboard are moved to the backside of the pile where a mini hoe feeds a sorting line. There is a rhythm and a balance once achieved that can keep everything moving efficiently. When im on the ground I direct scale traffic and guide the drivers onbthe proper way to back up to the excavators. When the trailers full i pull it and scale it out so we can mate a new trailer. The goal is keeping the compactor moving.
The third duty i have occasionally is operating loader. After the trailers pull off I push the material to the excavator so they can keep feeding the compactor or build the spoil pile. I stay busy regardless of which role im fulfilling and I take pride in safety, order and cleanliness. Heavy Equipment Operator
Carter's Plumbing-White Lake, MI
April 2020 to November 2022
I was the excavator operator primarily but I spent most days of the week running service calls. Whenever plumbers needed to dig I did the operating and assisted with plumbing. I have a lot of experience doing water services, gas lines, sewer lines, septic repairs and sump discharges. There end up being diverse utilities for an excavator and I take pride in reducing labor for the hands. When there weren't any digs I performed residential service plumbing. Water heaters, floor breaks, sumps. I was able to develop a versatile skillset. Heavy Equipment Operator
Kangas Logging-Ishpeming, MI
August 2012 to December 2019
I operated forwarder and processor doing production work mostly. After going through with a processor I would operate, forwarding logs to a staging area I developed with the buldozer that was capable of handling the stacking of large amounts of timber as well as the safe access of semi tractors. I load trucks and run dozer based on need. Maintenance of the job site as well as the landing was common. I also hand fell timber and run chainsaw.
When the production phase is over I communicate with log buyers and sawmills in order to bring the timber to market.
Kiln Operator
Northern Hardwoods-Houghton, MI
September 2017 to August 2018
My job was to keep lumber cycling through the kilns in a timely manner to keep production lines going. Starting initially in a huge predrying warehouse we stack and cycle huge quantities of lumber to stay ahead of the kilns.
While lumber dried there was a continuous need to test and retest sample pieces chosen from various locations in the kiln to verify the quality. When the lumber was dried and graded I loaded the semis for delivery.
Heavy Equipment Operator
Baranko Brothers-Dickinson, ND
March 2012 to December 2014
I ran dozer, excavator, scrapers, backhoe, loader and haul truck. I went out during the oil boom and through my time I learned most equipment on the job site. At the onset of a job I would operate earth movers. Primarily scraper and off road haul truck. I would run dozer as a pushcat operater pushing scrapers and keeping the cut cleaned up so the scrapers could continue their lines without much grief.
After the earthmoving I worked on the pipe crew and did all of the construction pipe. I would operate excavator and backhoe with a hand that worked the Lazer level and labored. Ive done large 2" water services, including saddling into county lines, oil overflow reservoirs, water hydrants and miles of culvert.
Oilfield Roustabout
Sweet Crude Oil Field Services-Dickinson, ND
December 2011 to April 2012
I worked as a laborer on well sites doing a variety of tasks. When we walked on to a wellsite our first duty was plumbing. Everything was plumbed in with 2" schedule 80 iron in 20' lengths. All of the nipples were cut and threaded on site. We started plumbing from the pump jack to a scrubber tank. The scrubber received the crude and separated into 3 parts. Crude oil, then brine water in large quantities do to the fracking process, and gas. From the scrubber, we plumbed lines to storage tanks that held the brine and the crude post scrubber separation. The gas line was run to a burn off on site. After the plumbing was complete the wellsite was graded off and outside of all of the separate zones we put dikes and earth barriers to contain the area separately. The most challenging part of the work was the timetable we operated on. It would reach incredibly low temperatures in the winter but work never stopped. When temps would reach -40 f we would warm up every 15 minutes in the pickup while the other group continued and vice-versa. When digging and burying the plumbing at a 4' cut was too difficult for the hoe, we would switch between jack hammers and hammering wedges. The process certainly built character. Sales Associate
