Spring 2006 VISTA: Reading tutor for lower elementary-aged children using phonetics and letter-recognition flashcards, reading from age-appropriate books, assisting student reading, and recordkeeping of each session.

2006 - present Andean Outreach Program and Perú Luz de Esperanza: Continuing work with two NPO groups who coordinate volunteer service in el Departamento de Junín, Perú. Summer 2006 Tinkuy Perú: Tutored students at Aldea del Rosario Orphanage in Huancayo, Perú. Subjects covered: chemistry, math, science, English. Taught a cursory first-aid and CPR class to orphanage staff. Taught evening English classes to Peruvian children and adults in a private academy (Andean School). 2005 - 2009 Student Health Advisory Council (SHAC): Vice-Chair 2006-2007. Participated in student committee for the betterment of student health and well-being in the University of Hawai’i system. Volunteered at a variety of campus events, such as the Condom Fair, Blood Bank of Hawaii recruitment, and the Great American Smoke out Day. Advocated for the reinstatement of Hawai`i Bone Marrow Registry drives for the UH community.

2003 - 2006 Blood Bank of Hawai`i (summer volunteer): Donor Room Assistant at Dillingham Donor center and off-site blood drives; provided support to staff and/or donors. Stripped and sealed donor units

(segs). Assisted staff with donors in syncope. Delivered donor units to blood center during remote drives; delivered prepared units and component orders to area hospitals. Spring 1996 Volunteer phlebotomist: Over100 hours over a period of 5 weeks during the Alana Dung Bone Marrow Drive for the Hawai`i Bone Marrow Registry. During this short time, we nearly tripled Hawaii’s bone marrow donor database.

Summer 1993 Hawai`i State Hospital: Transporter – Transported patients to outside medical and dental appointments, including the ‘criminally insane’; assisted in the patient wards. Spring 1990 Castle Hospital: ER Volunteer – Sanitized beds between patients; transported patients and records to other hospital areas; occasional assistance to medical staff during procedures.
