Force One Group Inc

Please note that I kept my services to BCBSM to a one-day remote work day on Fridays, and work at a compressed 40-hour week Monday - Thursday for the NYS

• I am dividing my time between two agencies in the state capital, at DOH researched and wrote an eighty-page paper on ways and means of data mining very large datasets

• In the paper, I suggested leveraging NoSQL in-memory database on commodity hardware instead of the using very expensive data warehouse appliance, or a Hadoop solution; which was what the leadership was advised to do before I took over as technical lead for the project

• In the research paper, I explained how they can leverage Sharding by using a NoSQL such as MongoDB or Couchbase

• I also explained why Hadoop is not a panacea for all big data use cases

• Leveraged Cassandra open source edition for the proof of concept(POC), further did a full presentation on the pros and cons of the NoSQL columnar database in terms of its CAP Theorem factors

• At OMH I redesigned their Informatica ETL space, it was implemented in a single point of failure state, thus they were experiencing a lot of performance issues whenever there is a heavy transformation taking place

• I also led the effort to put in place the Informatica Metadata Manager & suggested that the division should consider implementing the Informatica Proactive monitoring tool

• I also authored a one-hundred-page process and architecture framework document for the division. Professor (Part time contribution) 01/2014 - 01/2018 University of the People, Computer Science

• Contributed to planning appropriate and engaging lessons for both classroom and distance learning applications

• Mentored students and communicated internship and employment opportunities.

• Contributed to campus activities to promote positive university image.

• Created materials and exercises to illustrate application of course concepts.

• Collaborated with faculty members on projects.

• This was a part-time off/on volunteer role.

Sr. Enterprise Technology Architect 05/2014 - 09/2015 Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (Through Force One Group Inc)

• Redesigned the Informatica ETL suite used for data warehouse and soon to be incorporated with Big Data, the herein mentioned ETL tool was not load balanced nor in a high availability state, thus it is in a state of single point of failure, and no performance heuristics was in place.

• I did a thorough gap analysis of the herein mentioned, and wrote a detailed report.

• Based on the report, the leadership within the organization asked that I should do a cost analysis to put the remediation I suggested in place, the said remediation is in progress at the time of this writing

• I also did a very detailed gap analysis of the WebSphere MQ and Message Broker environment, the same processes as above was done by me to rectify the anomalies I identified

• The third element I had to address is that of UNIX to Linux migration, that is an ongoing project, but I added the elements of industry best practices to the process

• The said parts I proffered includes but not limited to migration tools, underlying core UNIX Linux differences and other sundries

• I also started a very important conversation with the database group in terms of Oracle database security, what I advocated was given the utmost urgency by the database manager, and corrections being suggested is at the time of this writing being discussed

• Put in place roadmaps for Oracle and DB2 database security, outlined all the necessary options in a solution document, liaised with all the necessary stakeholders to actualize the effort

• Designed a solution for Informatica Proactive Monitoring, Informatica Data Quality (IDQ), IBM Cognos Dynamic Cubes

• The highlight of my presence with this client is starting the conversation about Big Data implementation, I have laid out a very comprehensive plan for the POC, it was well received within the leadership of the organization

• HITRUST implementation is part of my major projects for the client, I was part of its initial discussion, and I have led the technology architecture conversation part of it, it is presently in its evidence gathering phase

• Furthermore, I led the disaster recovery effort from an architecture perspective, thus that has given me the advantage of doing ongoing analysis of the whole enterprise

• The analysis in question is being documented in a very comprehensive manner. Big Data Architect 01/2012 - 01/2013

NYS DOH & OMH (Through Force One Group Inc)

• Evaluated and proposed changes to the NYS Commissioner of Mental Health in terms of best way and practices to manage large data sets mining, and appropriate skill set to achieve the result. Also suggested best practices around leveraging data analytic database. Wrote an in-depth research paper on how to leverage NoSQL and other Big Data offerings, including Hadoop to address the proliferating datasets withing the two entities herein mentioned.

Enterprise Solutions Architect 08/2013 - 03/2014

Blue Cross Blue Shield of NJ

• Did gap analysis of the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) landscape, identified core weaknesses within the areas of ETL data transformation, web services, message queue, and Oracle database

• Documented all facets of the enterprise where such essential elements did not exist, authored design documents for Oracle database Grid Control, MQ remediation design; suggested better ways of monitoring and performance tuning of Informatica PowerCenter

• Suggested using Cassandra for some of the applications being migrated from DB2 to Oracle, the argument against the very efficient NoSQL was that it was barely three years released to general availability, but I pointed out its capabilities in terms of replication, and easy horizontal scaling on very cheap commodity hardware, as against the very high cost of vertical scaling of Oracle database, also in terms of the latter's high cost of total cost of ownership

• Led a proof of concept effort to establish the capabilities of Cassandra

• Laid out a roadmap for Big Data implementation, looking at its capabilities, performance and scalability

• Analyzed its use cases, and costing

• Leveraged various methods for the POC

• Documented and presented ways of achieving Enterprise Transformation by leveraging Lean Enterprise Architecture framework.
