hiring of shipping and receiving associates, reviewed associates progress and helped them set goals for future development and success, performed disciplinary actions when needed, responsible for ensuring
that all associates were properly trained for the jobs, and had the tools to succeed, managed time keeping
and payroll, responsible for working with other departments to schedule associates based on need and workflow demands. started a weekly audit of inbound and outbound Chep pallets and working with vendors to begin using Chep pallets also and saved 200k on pallet cost the first year. Developed and put into place a “pay for skill” program that gave associates a voluntary way of increasing their payrate by learning different jobs and being more flexible on what shifts they worked. Instituted a “training matrix” that outlined the positions in the department and equipment used. As associates went through the training they signed off they knew the tasks and then demonstrated to management that they could perform the job they moved a beginning level of “silver” to the third stage of
“Platinum” they increased their hourly rate. .50 to move from “silver” to “gold” and .75 by moving from “gold” to “platinum” for a total increase of 1.75 per hour. Going to the final level also came with the associate signing that they would now be willing to work any shift that they were needed to cover open positions as needed. This decreased overtime and saved 75 thousand on payroll over a year.
