Project Manager

Responsible for the development of a SOW (Scope of Work), for the development of a cost analysis and subsequently an AFE (Application for Expenditure), follow up with stakeholders, area owners, cost tracking, accruals and project cost actuals. Responsible for project reporting, field progress tracking, holding weekly meetings, effective management and execution of both Engineering and Construction projects throughout the project life cycle.

Developed, monitored and updated project execution schedules in MS project on assigned projects.

Managed the execution of assigned projects. Interacted with work force and contractors to ensure compliance to safety and environmental standards. Conducted regular updates on project status compared to schedule and provided direction accordingly. Examine work performed to ensure adherence to design and specification and provide direct and written feedback to contractors. This includes quality control and quality assurance technical responsibilities. Execution responsibilities may also include support for other engineers in the department.

Project Successes: Took a legacy project that was started in 2021 through SOW development, AFE Approval, construction including supervision, solutions to RFI’s, receiving and processing invoices, change orders, design questions and resolution, and Commissioning. The project was brought in on time, under budget and with zero safety incidents. The project was a complex mix of electrical, instrumentation, piping and mechanical apparatus including pumps, valves, instruments, piping and erection of a steel building for weather protection. A complicated task that was achieved by assembling a dedicated commissioning team made up of consultants, engineers and specialists. The facility, a Tailings Thickener Flocculation Upgrade enabled more recovery, substantially less polymer use and better management by the mill operators. Project budget $1.19M.

Capitol Projects Superintendent

Construction oversight of a Thirty Foot (30’) high 3.25-mile diameter Tailings Storage Facility (TSF)

Duties included oversight of all earthworks, geosynthetics, mechanical works, SWPPS, and expansion of an on-site bridge spanning a county roadway. Conducted safety inspections and audits, and continued development of a safety culture.

Project Successes: Managed contractor activity during as 3.5 Mile diameter Thirty Foot (30’) high tailings dam raise. Directed contractor activity as this was a Time and Materials driven project. Managed stockpile as well as borrow site use and development. SWPPS was very critical due to frequent rains and thunderstorms and nearby streams and PAG (Potentially Acid Generating) Rock borrow and fill. Project completion made difficult due to unseasonably wet winter and spring. My extensive background in soils amendments, mainly lime treatment of saturated soils. Brought the project to completion with minimal interruption and delays.

Managed CQA activities during construction of several large mine and landfill projects. Led project management, prepared daily, weekly, monthly, and final reports and oversight of earthwork and liner installations and materials testing.
