Central Office Communication Specialist

Focused and highly motivated Communication Specialist with 6+ years of professionalism, responsibility, assurance, and personable posture, chosen 1 of 3 to manage multi-large-scale Main, Remote, and Tandem Central Offices. I utilized my technical and telecommunication, management planning and leadership, statistic and analytical problem solving, communication, and negotiation skills to address the Central Office’s demands, resources, budgets, daily operations, and constraints to meet critical timelines and keep the network, all worth billions of dollars, operational, recognized by earning praise and high marks from upper management.

Daily operations consist of prioritizing critical failures, followed by maintenance on network devices like routers, switches, ROADMs, digital clocks, alarm systems, and other network devices: Tellabs Titan DCS, JungleMux, Cisco, Flashwave, Fujitsu, Titan Tellabs, Ciena, Juniper, Nortel, Alcatel, Lucent, SPIRENT, and IBM, resulting in 100% restoration.

Employed test set skills with brands like Viavi, JDSU, and T-Berd and equipment like OTDR, optical scopes, light generators, light meters, tracers, spectrum analyzers, tone generators, probes, multimeters, sidekicks, and hand tools to install, condition, provided benchmark analysis, perform maintenance and troubleshoot thousands of joint circuits, i.e., POT’s, DWDM, dark fiber, single and multimode fiber, and coax that support T1 (HICAPS), T3, OC12, OC48, SONET and Spine Networks and other nodes that further support 4G, 5G, Cell Sites, Backbones, business architects, VHF, UHF and MW Radio Communications. The task was completed with 100% accuracy while maintaining satisfactory records on Safety, Quality, and Business Code of Conduct fortifying Houston's metropolitan area and cell site connectivity.

Utilized client relationship, communication and negotiation, and technical skills to collaborate with carriers like AT&T Legacy, Verizon, CenturyLink, Sprint, T-Mobile, Cisco, and Juniper during installation configuring TCP/IP, UDP, DHCP, MAC Address, security settings, and providing network analysis and troubleshooting meet-me points and demarcations of routers, switches, servers, repeaters, amplifiers, and network interfaces. This process determines levels of responsibility, builds successful business relationships, reduces AT&T dispatch costs, and creates sales revenue.

Technical advisor, and central office representative, in collaboration with a team of architectural engineers, to develop the Atlas Program designed to improve workflow, technical reference and procedures, logistics, and ticket management. Utilized technical knowledge and mechanical knowledge, technical writing, specific central office insight knowledge, aggregated data, visualization to describe required functions, Python, Linux, and DOS scripting needed for technicians needed for daily operations.

Led special multi-group installation projects on routers and switches like Juniper MX960, Ciena 5150, Cisco Fujitsu, and P2 xLeaf platforms, inspected equipment installation, and used Ethernet, Putty, and Linux to set IP, Subnet Mask, DNS, rights, and equipment settings, upscaling digital Leaf Spine Network from analog base.

AT&T Outside Install & Repair, Construction

As a part of the Field Forces Outside, FFO, utilized my in-depth experience and technical knowledge to prioritize trouble tickets based on critical demands, reviewed engineering schematics, data analysis, and test data on the transport, network, data link, and physical layers, then considered logistics and access to resolving the trouble. Tickets included installation or repairs of electrical, fiber optic, and mechanical telephone, VOIP, alarm systems, AC/DC power systems, splitters, GPONs, ONTs, routers, switches, hubs, cross-boxes, terminals, splices, special services circuits DS0, DS1, DS3, repeaters, amplifiers, RF Antenna's, radios and intelligent network interface devices using skills like crimping, compression, soldering, and fusion splicing, terminal connectors, and testing equipment like OTDR, digital volt meters, signal and light generator, Sidekick, multimeter, JDSU, Viavi network test, monitoring and assurance signal meters, RF power meters, Antennas, and satellite dishes.

As one of three telecom subject matter experts onsite, led more than 25 emergent project repairs involving tear downs, car accidents, residential fires, and natural disasters, hired appropriate contractors, and provided quick plant restoration of thousands of emergency and residential circuit restorations, garnering recognition from peers and upper management, a huge boost in positive customer satisfaction, increasing AT&T customer base and retention by more than 10%.

Performed hundreds of preventative maintenance on assigned real estate, remote Terminals, poles, span lines, cell sites, and power stations plant degradation resulting in a reduction in plant degradation and increased disaster readiness.

Drove company vehicles for +13 years with zero vehicular accidents or violations providing a zero-safe reliability resulting in recognition in yearly appraisals.

SWB/ATT Network Operation Center Tester

Chosen 1 of 250 Testers started as LAN/WAN administrator ensuring local servers were operational, provided authentication, and backup were successful. After servers were centralized in Dallas, assumed duties as a Network Operation Center Tester. As a Tester providing unsupervised independent testing for (MOKA) Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, and Texas (North and South). The service provided provisioning, maintenance, and deployment from the Transport Layer to the Physical Layer of circuits like Analog, HICAP to OC128, SONET, and Fiber across the ATT network resulting in accrued sales and reduced plant degradation.

Utilized analytical skills to interpret the advanced phased modulation data that provided by each node on the circuits to determine the type of trouble, localize, and dispatch the proper technicians to the location for repairs and reduce downtime resulting in reduced AT&T fines to a 3% margin.

With management and negotiation skills, engaged other Telcos at isolation point-of-handoff or (POP) point of presence, to prove trouble out of ATT network, this process saved ATT hundreds of thousands in repairs and dispatches.

Delicate position, 3 of 250 Tester, chosen as Independent Auditor, where I analyzed and documented Tester Logs to identify proper procedures, dispatches, and escalations to ensure compliance and quality. A technical analytical report was created to reduce overall restoral times where I met the 3% margins.

Utilized LAN skills, developed by the US Navy, managed local servers, email accounts, authentication, storage infrastructure, set up DHCP and DNS environment, firewall, and supported proprietary applications required for more than 250 Network Tester and managers to perform daily operations resulting in millions in procurement and saved fines.
