SKILLS

KNOWLEDGE

ABILITIES

I have proven my ability to listen and follow orders accurately by successfully completing both classroom and clinical training in phlebotomy and patient care assisting. I enjoy interacting with patients and being a part of helping them have a painless and positive experience, not only in the lab but overall.

While working at Cartersville Medical Center I was able to practice the steps necessary to collect a blood specimen via venipuncture and capillary puncture. I am experienced in performing venipunctures on pediatric and geriatric patients. As a phlebotomist at CMC we rotate the following departments: outpatient lab, floors, and ED. Responsibilities working in outpatient include: registering patients, verifying requisitions, ordering test, and collecting blood. When working in the emergency department my duties are to collect blood samples within ten minutes of the test being ordered. Other duties include collecting urine samples, strep and flu swabs. The phlebotomist on the floor is responsible for collecting timed draws, pool every four hours, and stat draws in a timely manner.
