My parents had owned two stores for a lot of my childhood, so I was well accustomed to working there. While there I helped train new employees, and had experience working during both the morning and afternoon shifts. I helped with food prep, stocking, phone calls, cashiering, and essentially everything that came with the job. In this environment I learned how to deal with customers and effectively get tasks done in an efficient manner while also being careful to make sure the job was done correctly.
American Eagle Outfitters & Aerie, Meridian — BA

This has been one of my favorite jobs. I loved working with people here, and I learned a lot in a short amount of time. I started off in the American Eagle side which is where I learned about jean sizing and sales tactics. I switched over to the Aerie side after about 3 months of working, I showed efficiency in how I met or exceeded my sales goals and proved I was capable of more independent work that I could be trusted with. I was liked for how I treated my coworkers and customers, and would often get customer compliments. Working in Aerie has been my favorite experience by far. I love uplifting customers and helping them find their perfect fit (especially in bra sizes). This job taught me that human interaction in places of work doesn’t have to be strictly transactional, and that being compassionate towards people in any setting has more benefits than judgment does.
