Edited all engineering papers included in inaugural fall 2005 edition of on-line newsletter, “Express,” published by NCSU ECE’s Semiconductor Power Electronics Center. Academic editing topics include aerospace, chemical, electrical, mechanical, and nuclear engineering; computer networking; architecture; electronics; metallurgy; meteorology; chemistry; economics; and humanities. In addition to various dissertations, my work has been published in “IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking,”
“International Journal of System Science,” “International Journal of Architectural Heritage,” “Nature,” “Journal of Development Economics,” “Journal of Business Economics and Statistics,” “Wireless Communications,” and
“EPRI” journals, as well as other global engineering and design publications. I have been one of NCSU Graduate School’s “Editors for Hire” since 2003.
Editor (2019-Present): Contract, Electrical Power Research Institute, Palo Alto, CA Edit various electrical power journal articles, consisting of Word documents and Excel spreadsheets and posters. Communicate with journal authors and EPRI chief editor prior to publication. Authors are often ESL writers. Admin Specialist (2019-Present): Temp/part-time, NC Justice Dept, Attorney General’s Office, Raleigh, NC Archive court cases for criminal and tort claims divisions. Editor (2004-2005): Contract, EdiSense Crimson Interactive, Mumbai, India Edited scientific papers, letters, and articles written by ESL engineers and scientists and uploaded to editorial coordinator in Mumbai. Topics included: plasma physics; condensed matter physics; nano technology; and crystal growth.
Transmission Planning Assistant (1982-2001): Perm/full-time, Progress Energy, Raleigh, NC Ran power flow studies and plotted results for electrical engineers in System Operations Department. Coordinated, compiled, and produced utility’s annual 10-year transmission additions plan, which documented the need for and estimated the cost of planned system-wide transmission projects. This document included CAD drawings of facilities, as well as textual descriptions, explaining the driving causes of such construction projects. Coordinated, compiled, and produced spreadsheet and graphical data in response to transmission planning data requests from state and federal regulatory agencies and self-governing councils, some of which included: the U.S. Department of Energy; Federal Electric Reliability Council; North American Electric Reliability Council; NC Utilities Commission; SC Public Service Commission; Southeastern Electric Reliability Council Reliability Review Subcommittee; and Virginia-Carolinas Reliability Council. Business Services Coordinator (2001-2018): Perm/full-time, NCSU, Raleigh, NC Molecular & Structural Biochemistry Department
Provided high-level guidance to department head, faculty, staff, and students. Anticipated, coordinated, managed, and administered departmental business, financial, and personnel responsibilities, communications, and events. Served as primary liaison to the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Business Office, ensuring all departmental business and personnel actions were appropriate, comport with University and college policies, funding was available, and that accounts and projects were correct. Served as liaison with alumni, industry, and the public, independently analyzing information requests, data, operations, communications, policies, and procedures effectively and efficiently. Developed and implemented department budgets and coordinated revenue, billing, and expenditures for all accounts. Monitored administration spending and funding allocations. Made recommendations regarding use and distribution of funds for faculty, staff, and graduate student association accounts. Extracted complex data from the NCSU financial system and provided summaries to department head on status of expenditures and budgeted funds. Monitored and provided faculty with nuances of different accounts and analyzed individual faculty service, revenue, and gift accounts, as well as overall position budgets. Supported goals and objectives of the department and Head in the absence of Department Head. Prepared and submitted personnel actions to the college for the hiring of department personnel including, but not limited to, non-exempt staff, tenure-track and non-tenured track faculty, adjunct faculty, postdoctoral scholars, and visiting scholars.
