ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Establishing trusting relationships quickly, to help individuals understand their situation and get the best possible outcome.
Conducting through assessments of patient’s mental health conditions, including gathering of information about their symptoms, history and needs.
Administering and monitoring psychiatric medications as prescribed by a psychiatrist doctor ensuring that there is effective drug adherence.
Providing individual and group therapy session to help psychiatric patients cope with and manage their mental health challenges.
Observing regularly and documenting patient’s behavior, the mental status and any changes that might occur to their condition.
Understanding the legal context of mental health nursing and be able to identify whether and when someone may be at risk of hurting themselves or someone else.
Managing crises and de-escalating situations when patients experience acute episodes of mental illness.
