I am a lifelong resident of New York City and a graduate of New York Law School in Manhattan. As a former Senior Writer/Editor for the Manhattan headquarters of the Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services at 26 Federal Plaza, I was the principal writer and editor of all published reports and all internal and external agency communications issued by Federal Region II (NY, NJ & Puerto Rico), and I was solely responsible for providing writing evaluation and training to 50+ agency employees throughout New York, New Jersey, and Puerto Rico. Since my departure from HHS in 2007, I have worked as a fulltime academic ghostwriter, authoring approximately 10,000 projects, which, as you might imagine, requires tremendous versatility and the ability to work with multiple often-overlapping short deadlines, including those that could only be met by producing complex projects as long as 6,000 words overnight. Most of my work has consisted of undergraduate college essays, but I have also produced approximately 100 master-level theses and approximately 50 PhD-level dissertations in subjects ranging from law, nursing, and psychology to liturgical history and vocal (music) educational theory. From 2011 through 2014, I single-handedly authored a blog for a large veterinary practice in New Jersey, focusing on client education and pet care. Since 2011, I have served as the Vice President of my Mitchell-Lama cooperative in Washington Heights, in connection with which I have authored numerous contracts, RFPs, the comprehensive substantive revision of our corporate bylaws, as well as myriad pieces of formal correspondence, informal public shareholder notices, and extensive policy updates, sometimes under tight deadline pressure. As a lifelong fitness enthusiast and competitive hockey player and instructor, I have also written extensively on exercise, athletic training, nutrition, and fundamental ice hockey skills. Frankly, my sole-proprietorship website, www.nycfreelancewriter.com, enabled me to make a comfortable living for 15 years, until the recent introduction and apparent widespread adoption, among college and graduate students, of ChatGPT and other AI programs. Consequently, my orders and corresponding income plummeted by roughly two-thirds last year, which is why I am now currently re-entering the job market by applying for work as a writer for the first time since 2007.
