John F. McMullen
I am the Poet Laureate of the Town of Yorktown, NY (http://www.johnmac13.com/poet-laureate yorktown-ny.html) and am an Adjunct Professor at Westchester Community College. I was a weekly columnist for the Westchester Guardian (www.westchesterguardian.com), writing on “Creative Disruption” (the constant, often “under-the-radar”, impact that technological innovation has on everything around us) as well as occasional columns on books, education, and sports until the paper went out of business in 2016 (there were 212 columns n the series). I have written seven books, over 2,500 articles, columns, news stories, encyclopedia entries, and anthology pieces, and was the East Coast Editor for a technology news service, “Newsbytes” Additionally, I publish a daily Internet newsletter “johnmac13’s Newsletter” (http://nuzzel.com/johnmac13/2017/01/19), excerpting 10 articles from around the US. I also hosted a weekly radio show, “The johnmac Radio Show” (http://www.johnmac13.com/the-johnmac-radio-show.html), interviewing people I find interesting (academics, writers, editors, public officials, law enforcement, religious leaders, etc.) – I ended the show after 300 episoded.
I was a full-time Professor at Monroe College for 10 years, where I taught upper level programs in The Information Technology Area (Management Information Systems, Telecommunications, Computer Forensics, & the Capstone Course). I have also have been an Adjunct Professor at Monroe, Purchase College, Marist College,, The New School for Social Research, and New York University. Additionally, I am a volunteer professor in the “Center for Lifetime Studies” program, hosted at Marist College, teaching courses of my own development (“History of Computing”, “Apple -- from Jobs to the Watch”, “History of Google, “Be Your Own Media”, and “Creative Disruption”) to senior citizens.
Prior to full time involvement in education and writing, I was a principal of my own technology consulting firm and prior to that I was an officer of three Wall Street firms and involved in systems development with the Federal Government. I am presently a technology consultant, manage an Artificial Intelligence e-mail list, hosting weekly and monthly Zoom lists for writing and poetry groups, and writing (12 books on Amazon)
