Work Experience as a Registered Nurse
January 2018 – December 2022
Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School – Boston Massachusetts
Registered Nurse, Operating Room
●As a nurse at Brigham and Women's Hospital, a renowned tertiary care center, my primary role was in the operating room (OR), where I provided crucial assistance to the surgical team across various specialties, predominantly Urology, Plastic Surgery, Orthopedics and General Surgery. In addition to these main specialties, I gained extensive experience by floating to numerous other surgical areas, allowing me to accumulate a comprehensive understanding of diverse surgical procedures. Within the OR, my responsibilities were multifaceted. I meticulously prepared the operating room, ensuring it was fully equipped and sterilized to meet the specific requirements of each procedure. As both a scrub nurse and circulator, I played a pivotal role in supporting the surgical team throughout the entire surgical process. During surgeries, I worked closely with surgeons and other team members, anticipating their needs, passing instruments, and maintaining a sterile environment to minimize the risk of infection. Effective communication was paramount as I liaised between team members, ensuring seamless coordination and facilitating optimal patient care. Post-operatively, I transitioned to monitoring patients' recovery, closely observing their vital signs, and administering medications as necessary to manage pain and prevent complications. Additionally, I provided detailed instructions to patients and their families regarding post-operative care, empowering them to actively participate in their recovery process. Throughout my tenure in the operating room, I remained steadfast in my commitment to prioritizing patient safety, comfort, and overall well-being. I adhered rigorously to hospital protocols and best practices, striving to uphold the highest standards of care in every aspect of my role.
