PROFILE
I have been in the education field for about 3 years now and have attained many skills that will carry on with me wherever I go. I loved the relationships I have formed throughout the years as an educator with my classmates, colleagues, the parents I have gotten to know and the students I had that I call mine. I do not have experience in the dental field. However, I am excited to start the process of changing my career into the pharmacy world. I am not in a rush and would like some hands on experience to see if this is truly what I want to do. I look forward to this transitional period in my career journey.
EXPERIENCE
Kindergarten Teacher
Central Elementary School I Banning Unified School District I August 2023 - Present I teach Kindergarten in a classroom setting at a dual immersion (spanish school) and teach the English general education class. My time here provided me with skills in classroom management and more skills in accommodating all types of students. I have learned a lot about the process of an SST meeting and the steps to navigating how to get help in this area. My favorite part as a Kindergarten teacher is the amount of growth the kids have had from learning letter recognition and letter sounds to then learning how to read.
6th grade Middle School Teacher
Nicolet Middle School Banning Unified School District January 2023- Present I teach 6th grade English and History. I also teach English Language Development level 2 for my elective class. In English, I work with my team on choosing a class book per semester and we focus on that book by reading together, analyzing and working on activities that relate to the book. In history, I follow the curriculum book and each day we read one page together. After that, we write and draw in our journals. I have one that I write and they follow. If there is time, we also color in our journals. In my ELD class, we work on upper elementary phonics, do comprehension together, and learn new academic vocabulary words .I also provide time for them to read easy to read books aloud with a partner as much as I can.
Kindergarten Summer School Teacher
Hope Community Services, Santa Ana 2022
I am teaching kindergarten students this summer for 7 weeks! This will be my first time being a classroom teacher and facilitating my own classroom. I had the opportunity to create my own units and plan out the 7 weeks for the students. I look forward to my experience here at Hope Summer School and grow from this experience.
1st Grade - 5th Grade Intervention Teacher
Cox Elementary School Fountain Valley School District January 2022- Present I love being an intervention teacher here at Cox Elementary. In my everyday life, I get to work with 2 other wonderful intervention teachers and we have 30 minute sessions with each of our groups. I have 10 groups a day. Through my time here, I had the chance to teach phonics and letter work to k-2 grade and practice comprehension to 3-5 graders. The first thing we do everyday is 5 minutes of reading to self, then there are phonics that follow or a book that is at their reading level to read together. The remaining time is a classroom connection assignment for them to do or some magnetic letter work that will help them in the area that they need help in. Being provided this time everyday for 30 minutes a day really does help these students who need it and I get to see how confident they become. I love working in small groups with them because I get to know them more and I get to build strong relationships with them. However, I really want my own classroom one day. Student Teaching Fall 2021
Lord-Baden Powell Elementary School Magnolia Unified School District August 2021 - December 2021
I am placed in a 1st grade classroom and I started 1 week before the students came in. During my first week, I prepped with my master teacher, was part of the Magnolia School District Meeting and I learned so much during my semester there. I found that building relationships with students is so important. I take the time to provide a few minutes out of the day to ask them how their weekend was or if they have any plans for the weekend as a whole class. Students love sharing and knowing about one another. I also think it is so important to provide time for students to work with one another and build relationships with their peers.
Instructional Assistant
Springbrook Elementary School Irvine Unified School District April 2021 - June 2021 This was a unique position and the perfect teaching experience for me because the 2nd grade classroom was split into 2 rooms with about 15 students in each room. The teacher and I were switching back and forth teaching per school subject. I did start at the end of the school year so it was a challenge because students were more comfortable in the classroom, more chatty and ready for break. I was provided time to manage the classroom and teach every subject for second graders. I loved it!
