WORK EXPERIENCE
Construction Supervisor/Journey Worker
Pedernales Electric Cooperative - Kyle, TX - March 2001 to November 2017
Responsibilities
I had many responsibilities as a construction supervisor such as: planning and organizing the work for my crew every day, training and mentoring apprentice linemen, preaching and teaching safe work practices, and a wide variety of clerical responsibilities (paperwork). Making purchases, approving purchases, as sending or filing invoices and receipts in compliance with Finance Departments requirements. When it comes to my responsibilities as a Journey Worker, well, all of the above still applies, as well as actually performimg the work. I am experienced in "Hot Work", mostly rubber gloving although I do have some experience in hot sticking. I am experienced in both Overhead and Underground construction, maintenance, and repair. I have troubleshooting skills used primarily for power restoration and customer/member complaints. I have been lead lineman on "call-out duty" for over a decade. I have experience in operating the heavy equipement involved in linework. At the risk of not naming them all, i have used all size and types of bucket trucks, "back yard machines", line trucks, digger derricks, URD "Sput" machine, and tension and brake reel machines. At PEC we still do a fair amount of climbing so I am proud to say that I have done my fair share of change outs "off the wood".
Accomplishments
●Taken the lead on big projects involving multiple crews to achieve multiple tasks in a very short time frame, such as converting existing lines. Personally, I went back to school and got a degree while still working full time (online classes). I beleive this had an impact on some lineman as well as my supervisor to demonstrate drive an desire to move ahead and not settle into only doing one thing. Aquired my Class A CDL within my first six months and have maintained it since then as you never know when you'll be needed to use your truck driving skills.
Skills Used
First and formost leadership. Ability to think and figure things out. Ability to make sound decisions, keeping the crews, the public, and myself flowing in a safe working environment. I also have computer skills that help me, and helps coworkers with the technological advancements the industry is experiencing.
2018 to 2019
Took time off from working for personal reasons (Family).
Independent Contractor
VeryAble inc. February 2019 to current.
Responsibilities
With VeryAble I used an app to bid on different assignments/operations. For the most part, most jobs were temporary assignments. My skills in driving helped me get assignments driving box trucks to deliver an assortment of products depending on the company. I’ve had laborer assignments. And different warehousing assignments. I recently finished a long term contract that lasted a little over 2 years with Builders First Choice that ranged from being a drivers assistant/helper to deliver construction material, to prepping specific material for delivery, to loading and unloading trucks for delivery. With a little bit of what they called a One Call mixed in. That was basically when a customer showed up and ordered material that they needed right away. They would pull one of the loaders to pull the material and help load it.
