Registered Nurse for 32 years. Nursing has been my life passion. I am a patient advocate and a champion for the elderly. Worked in various aspects in the nursing field. Started my career in Medical / Surgical nursing were I obtained a solid foundation. My nursing career brought me to work in a Telemetry unit for the following six years. Were a lot was learned about cardiac patients and cardiac medications. I change my focus to Neurology, which I greatly enjoyed and gained a lot of experience with the elderly population and strokes. I also obtained experience working as an Emergency Room Nurse and gained a lot of knowledge in emergent services . During this time I became ACLS certified. I acquire further neurologic experience with my role in a Neuro /Interventional Radiology lab. Gained knowledge of current interventional techniques and many different kinds of line placements as well as interventions with patients with strokes. We preformed procedures such as removing clots and placing filters. Home Health Case Management was my next accomplishment . Home visits with patients and educating them on continued care. I worked with many wound care and post op. patients. Also at this time, I started working more with the elderly. I became a weekend supervisor at a AL/Mc . This is were I really found my calling and spent many hours talking and interacting with the elderly population. This was my fun job because I just loved the time I would spend with my residents. I took on Director of Nursing roles that I greatly enjoyed. I love teaching new Nurses and Cnas. The elderly are our golden resource. They have a lot to teach us if we just listen and learn from them. Work Experience
