Philosophy

Clearly define the ultimate purpose or overall result for the system. Provide utility access in a way that makes sense to the user. Utilize the appropriate tool for the appropriate task. Complex tasks can always be divided into discrete, simple units making the whole achievable. Always seek the fundamental, underlying or root cause of an event; a new perspective will almost always provide unique insight to the issue at hand. Focus the solution(s) on the root cause and avoid treating the symptoms. Understand the separation between presentation specifications and content and how raw data becomes useful information as well as the relationship between the user and the machine, design to work within that relationship and make life easy for the user.
