Personal Summary

I’m an award-winning engineer with over 13 years of experience in the US and UK. I have a passion for tackling the biggest most complex projects I can find, this led to my PhD, award and four patents. While proud of these achievements in the tire industry; through 2023 I enjoyed venturing out into a completely new field, bringing AI technology into the law industry. Now I’m looking to continue this direction and am looking for new challenges, particularly in diverse applications of engineering, AI, algorithm development and data analysis.

Recent Technical Projects (2023 and 2024)

Ticket Xray. I created a fully automated service for contesting traffic tickets. This service utilizes AI to formulate defense strategies and draft court documents, empowering individuals to efficiently navigate legal challenges without the necessity of costly legal representation.

AI Lawyer. I developed an 'AI Lawyer' using Python, AWS, and AI services, designed to analyze legal documents and identify inconsistencies in testimony and financial irregularities.

These projects required me to use entirely new technology, in a completely new field all while learning a new programming language. I found this thoroughly absorbing and delivered both projects.

Employment Overview

Senior Tire Modeling Engineer, GM. April 2021 – Feb 2023 (USA, Remote)

My GM work focused on three key areas:

A data mining tool I created using MATLAB to model snow/ice/wet surface. My app imports and objectively scores test data, then allows the user analyzes the results objectively so different tires, tests, and conditions can be numerically compared. This approach enables data-driven decision-making rather than judgement calls.

The snow/ice traction project is an initiative to test tires using a lorry rig in Europe and specially-equipped cars in Michigan. I lead the project and developed an approach for normalizing the test data to correct for changing weather conditions, and an approach for scaling models from indoor testing to snow/ice/wet surface.

Both projects resulted in predictive capabilities which were used in place of expensive physical testing. Further work included flat-trac test procedure development which expanded on the work of my PhD, Six Sigma Black Belt training and parameterization of FTire, MF and SWIFT models.

Senior Engineer, Goodyear. Nov 2016 – April 2021 (USA, Remote)

I was headhunted from England to manage a new area of Virtual Submissions. I created a product development process (PDP) to design tires using virtual tools. With a change to computer-based PDP by Goodyear, it was critical Goodyear’s processes interacted with those of its customers. Coming from Jaguar Land Rover on the customer side, I deeply understood the OEMs’ requirements, so I was a good fit to create this process. I led the project through requirements and internal capability research, conceptualization, and integration both internally and externally with a test group of customers and then into deployment support. The result was Goodyears’ new Virtual Submissions capability which is now market-leading. This project contributed to Goodyears’ purchase of two fully motion Driving Simulators.

Technical Lead, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR). Oct 2010 – Nov 2016 (UK, Gaydon & Remote)

I founded the Tire CAE and Modeling team and continued as the technical lead. I took JLR from zero capabilities in this area to being a leader in the field. I built a team, developed systems and processes from where I carried out patented award-winning research. The research goal was to minimize the modeling costs whilst maximizing the data quality. This was achieved over a four-year period where I developed a test procedure (GS2MF) resulting in a 72% year-on-year cost reduction amounting to savings of over $750,000 per year.
