Work experience:

SJL DESIGN STUDIO (Dallas, TX) July 2018 – February 2024

In the beginning, I assisted with production of several multifamily projects. After a year, I got promoted to Project Lead handling my own designs and space planned for new clients. I had two people who I conducted to help with technicalities while I focus on Construction Administration and site visits. Responded directly to the contractor on RFIs and submittals. I traveled all over the country to check on the projects I was involved in, with clients such as JPI, NRP, Lincoln …to name a few. Projects finalized under my supervision include: Las Palmas in Fort Myers, FL. Harbor Village in Rockwall, TX. 7600 Broadway in San Antonio, TX. The Olivia in Portland, OR … to name a few.

WATERMARK DESIGN STUDIO (Addison, TX) July 2015 - July 2018 Assistant to the project manager. Develop DD and CD packages for an Interior Design firm by the usage of AutoCAD LT. I create sheets in an organized form according to the need of the client. Working alongside designers developing MAT REFS, Spec Sheets, Floor Plans & Elevations. Developed strong knowledge of Commercial Space planning for hotels, restaurants, spas, golf clubhouses, residential towers, etc. Experiences from a luxurious brand new hotel in Panama with 187 guestrooms and an 18-hole golf resort to the remodel of a 441 guestroom Hilton in Orlando, Florida.

Free Lance Draftsman (Dallas, TX) 2010 – 2016

I assisted on architectural designs using the AutoCad 2010 program. This was a contract opportunity which helped me get more familiar with design. Some clients out sourced their mood shots or the feel for the end result and I developed the plans, elevations and 3D to understand the concept on each project.

Cadwallader Design Inc.(Dallas, TX) August 2006- December 2006

Mr. Cadwallader trusted me to create an organized atmosphere in his interior design firm. I helped keep up with spec sheets and P.Os. I assisted with the Ritz-Carlton Residences project and various residential plans as well.

Estuardo Designs (Lima, Peru) February 1999- November 2004

During my school years I traveled all around the country and visited various ancient edifications while assisting at one of the finest architectural firms in the city of Lima. At an early age I won a competition to remodel the main square of Huaraz, in the Ancash region of Peru in South America.

Project Examples:

SANTA MARIA HOTEL: First introduction to Interior Architecture right after college. It gave me a sense of space planning for a commercial purpose. Learned construction more in depth and the importance of drawing a detail for whatever the interior purpose may be from a ceiling lighted cove to how to build a leasing desk. Also, it gave me the exposure of hospitality intent at a larger scale in all terms of the design purpose.

HILTON RIVERSIDE: First time doing a remodel. Boss sent me to take measurements; since after Katrina, they lost a quarter of their chambers so... their CAD drawings were lost on site. I re-created the entire hotel on the computer from scratch. I learned the difference in design for a K-room, Q-room. ADA room. Suites ...etc.

LAS PALMAS: Coming from a hospitality perspective, my new boss at SJL liked the fact that I had fresh eyes for what a clubroom should look like on multifamily projects. For this particular client, he wanted something that looked like CARMEL BY THE SEA in Los Angeles; so I figured out how to make those chamfer corner walls and have a feel of that hotel (owned by Doris Day) to be brought into an apartment complex in Florida.

7600 BROADWAY: The most experience I acquired in common gathering spaces and Amenities for an apartment complex. Pictures should show themselves. Every detail on walls, fireplaces, ceilings, etc... I figured out how to coordinate with MEP and structure. Definitely an eye-opening experience.

MODERA FRISCO SQUARE: I would consider that my baby, toss between that and Harbor Village. Boss let me have free range to space plan and do whatever I wanted to do. The most fun I have had!
