Member of a project serving as the senior Netezza DBA/Storage engineer where work was performed on Netezza Striper models. Advised client developers on how to write optimal SQL queries, distribution techniques, performed database performance analysis, capacity planning, and system sizing. Developed and maintained bash scripts for database and host backups, and database migration scripts to migrate databases between test and development systems and provide a measure of disaster recovery. Maintained user/group permissions, Database/Table/Schema design, installed upgrades of all related software, fixed and analyzed system and software issues in collaboration with IBM support. Member of a project serving as the senior database engineer developing a major data warehouse. Work was performed on Netezza Mustang 10200 and 10400. Developed/designed schema’s, stored procedures, views. Advised client developers on how to write optimal SQL queries, monitored performance and managed backups. Helped with the development and troubleshooting of the ingestion code which was originally written in Pentaho Kettle, but, was re-developed as Java processes. Wrote various Kettle based SQL scripts to produce various metrics reports for analysts/management review. Managed and attended monthly briefings with the customer. Worked with testers to establish system and integration testing to verify integrity of data being populated into the data warehouse and documented the results.

Member of the Netezza pilot project. Evaluated, managed, and administered Netezza 10200 to evaluate the system as a viable alternative data warehouse platform for a high profile project. Performed numerous benchmarking tests to determine the 10200’s potential query performance and transaction rate. Converted Several complex analytic queries to execute on the Netezza appliance on a 20 Terabyte dataset to determine whether these analytics could be run in the required time frame. Wrote numerous reports describing the results of the testing for senior management review.
