Advancing forest sustainability, specializing in transforming old plantation forests into thriving ecosystems. The achievements include:
1. Sustainable Forest Management: Successfully implemented management plans to ensure long-term enterprise sustainability. This includes forest development (from seed collection, nursery activities to tree planting: planting site preparation, layout, pitting, seedling transportation, seedling planting), forest management or silviculture practices (including all types of tending operations or post planting activities:, slashing, spot hoeing, biting up, pruning, thinning, disease, pest, fire management and climber cutting) 2. Forest Protection: Collaborated with diverse stakeholders—government bodies, communities, development partners, and natural resource actors—to safeguard forests for future generations and mitigate climate change by reducing deforestation and forest degradation. 3. District Program Management: Led the Oromia REDD+ Investment Program (RIP), overseeing large- scale community forestry initiatives, sustainable tree planting, and Participatory Forest Management
(PFM) setup which will make the local communities to have sense of ownership in conservation efforts. 4. Community Engagement: Mobilized communities for land use planning, rights definition, and alternative livelihood strategies.
5. Agroforestry Advocacy: Established AgroForestry systems, reducing forest resource dependence and promoting eco-service utilization.
6. The holistic approach encompasses forest development, protection, utilization (tree cutting using chainsaw and axe, removing trees branch, cross-cutting, skidding to roadside, log transportation to sawmill yards), wood processing industry (lumber production and furniture manufacturing) and livelihood enhancement, all while ensuring efficient resource management.
