ACHIEVEMENTS
Through combined efforts, the department was able to identify and provide assistance to street children, child survival and development and to the aged. Data that was accumulated in the office also assisted the Assembly in the formulation and implementation of social welfare and community development policies within the framework of national policy.
There was drastic reduction of pollution within the communities that we visited. Through my team’s frequent visit and education on the negative effects of pollution, the community members became enlightened and as such reduced the rate at which they burned their waste products. They learnt of new ways to properly disposed off their waste products.
The school saw massive improvements in the accumulation of its fees paid by the parents of the students. There was never a loss in terms of the schools finances.
Together with the Community Health Nurses and my accumulated knowledge on mental health issues within the facility, I was able to identify people with mental problems such as those with autism, epilepsy, drug addicts, and schizophrenia among others and was able to administer specific medications to each one of the patients. I saw massive improvement in the health of the patients before my year service with them ended. Stigmatization of people with mental health conditions also reduced within the community due to the education they received from us.
As a dedicated player within the team, the university of Ghana handball ladies team won a bronze award in 2012 and in 2014 won gold for the school.
Best female handball player for Mensah Sarbah hall, 2011-2012, University of Ghana.
