Cover

My name is William (Bill) Riedel.

I grew up hunting, fishing, trapping, camping, and doing pretty much everything outdoors with my dad, brother, uncles, and cousins.

I was named after the best hunting dog my dad ever had and was always told that if I ever became half the man that "ole Bill" was a hunter, I'd be "a hell of a man". I'd like to think I've lived up to be that man.

Born and raised in Pennsylvania, I grew up in town thru the winters and school, and working on the farm all summer, from the age of 8 till about 15. I worked 6 different farms each year. We baled hay and straw, I picked cherries, strawberries, tomatoes, apples, and whatever else was in season. We had 5 horses and after 6 days of work, Sundays were always spent working with them, and long horse rides after church. Back at home and school during winter, it was always about finding winter work, which included cutting wire at a nearby septic tank plant, paper routes, various construction jobs, and for 2 months every year, all 6 of us kids were kept busy selling christmas trees at home in our yard.

For 30 years, my lady and I lived in the same home and raised our 5 kids, all who are doing really well now on their own. I became single again in early 2018 and for the 1st time since I was 20 yrs old, I was "free" to explore what "I" wanted to do. With change in mind I cleared all loose ends, sold everything I owned including my home, shop, tools, furniture, and even my truck. I bought a backpack in the middle of "covid" and went for a walk. First hiking a railtrail to Baltimore Md, then another to Pittsburg Pa. Eventually I ended up in Butte Mt where I spent the winter working at odd jobs and Walmart as a "zoner" for 7 months and donating alot of time at the Rescue mission store. I then explored northern Montana and Idaho with no intentions of entering Washington until I found and bought a horse here (was thinking about riding to Alaska) But the horse got loose on me and hit by a car, Walking again I ended up in Spokane. After several jobs that didnt work out I took a driving job, driving a 26,000lb flatbed delivering waterwell equipment to Montana, Idaho, and Washington. For 18 months I really liked driving, I didnt like being told to do things illegaly and putting my safety and license at risk. I decided to quit and pursue a cdl A, enrolling at 160 Driving Academy and passing on Jan 26. After CDL school I decided to travel more, spending the summer of 2023 hiking the trails and camping in Montana, seeing the sights. I now live in Grand Junction Colorado.

Im a carpenter first n foremost, having spent 35 yrs learning my craft building custom homes. From there my career graduated to building custom furniture, spending 7 years working prototype in a major shop and 15 years in my own shop. In my time I have driven just about anything on wheels, from farm tractors, grain trucks, box trucks, backhoes, bulldozers, forklifts, front loaders, and even a semi pulling a 51' trailer when I was 17 (without a lic) nearly everyday for 6 months.

As for Previous employment and references I am kinda at a loss. After 15 yrs of self employment, I have to go back alot of years to where most, if not all of my previous employers are either dead or no longer in business. And other than people I currently live with or have met and known casually in the past 3 years, I have limited references. My friends from home have all died.
