Mountain States Imaging, 2014 – 2023

IT Director

I was recruited to develop this local imaging company’s infrastructure into an enterprise class from a small business model to handle newly acquired government contracts. I accomplished this in several ways:

Replaced small server infrastructure and implemented EMC VNX Arrays to handle over 800 TB of data that is replicated to a duplicate system at a tier 3 facility for failover and disaster recovery.

Exchanged slow and non-secure network/firewall appliances, to Cisco and HP GB, fiber & 10GbE appliances with VLAN’s and DMZ’s. Which resolved high speed scanners stopping due to network saturation.

Replaced entire domain and email systems to clean all past errors and to close possible security issues.

Recruited, hired and managed a programming team to develop in-house and client-based applications.

Successfully worked independently with the USPS, CH2M and USMC to implemented ADFS communication to access our custom Apps we developed for them.

Worked with Operations Mgr. to revamp operational procedures to streamline the new business load.

Upgraded and installed security systems including 24/7 camera surveillance, HID door locks and application controls on all production computers.

Researched, trialed and procured high end imaging and large format scanners to replace antiquated equipment.

Improved operations staff structure by developing leads to working with smaller groups to focus on current tasks.

Developed a bar coding system for inventory of all incoming work that is also integrated into our ERP for billing and tracking purposes.

QED, 2008 – 2014

IT Director

Hired to completely overhaul the IT infrastructure of this privately held $160M 14 branch electrical wholesaler, while developing value added services using technology to separate QED from its competitors.

Expertly led enterprise technology overhaul from concept through implementation, with full accountability for timelines, milestones, risk assessment and budget.

Hired and trained five IT staff to accommodate the new IT direction and embedded them into the corporate business structure such that they were seen as an asset.

Responsible for managing and reviewing +$1M budget which included both OPEX and CAPEX

Managed Epicor Eclipse ERP and Web software development projects that created efficiencies and value-added services.

Designed and implemented company-wide project for data warehouse, improving time to pick product, detailed inventory controls and in-depth reporting tools.

Negotiated vendor contracts for maximum ROI and cost containment. Reducing contracts saving $440k/yr.

Designed and implemented a new company wide MPLS network, creating a 99.9% uptime SLA backed by a Liebert UPS and natural gas generator.

Researched and led 109.2 KW solar power plant installation project with a 3.5-year ROI.

Brought email back in house with Exchange Server 2010 while moving data backup and collaboration software to the cloud.

Saved fuel costs and time of 53 delivery trucks by implementing right turn GPS routing with real time tracking and driver driving statistics.

Implemented signature capture for both the sales counters and mobile units for drivers, saving A/P many hours of manual lookups of invoices.

CDI, 2000 to 2008

IT Director

Retained and then hired full-time to oversee and manage the IT infrastructure development for this industry’s leading non-profit agency. Played a significant leadership role as the company expanded from $10M to $258M operation, becoming Colorado’s 18th largest non-profit.

As a federally granted Interim Management company, provided IT oversight and direction for over 60 CDI Head Start programs nationwide.

Directly managed 5 IT staff members and at any given time 20-60 indirectly in the programs.

Designed and implemented CDI’s infrastructure, policies, procedures, and securities, which was also implemented into all programs nationwide.

Led team of 2 web developers creating betting communications and company efficiencies via intranet and internet sites.
