Career History & Accomplishments

Fulltime histotechnician/IHC, Fulgent Genetics, Alpharetta GA, (October 2022-March 2023)

My primary roles involved microtomy, tissue processing, IHC and special staining as well as assisting the lab aides in Case Assembly and management.

Study Break (May 2022-October 2022)

Fulltime Histologist, University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus Aurora CO (December 2020-May 2022)

I am skilled and trained to perform the following tasks: embedding, mictorotomy, special stains and immunohistochemistry.

Full-time Histotechnician, Histotox laboratory, Boulder CO (March 2019- September 2019

Histotox Labs is a non-clinical research facility providing services to universities in Histology and Toxicology. My role at Histotox was as a Histotechnician. Since there was a special need for microtomists, I worked mostly as a microtomist, performing microtomy on formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue. I also conducted H&E staining of the tissue. I had the opportunity of working with various animal tissue types: mostly colon, and liver, brain, spinal cord, kidney and skin. The volume of samples we would receive varied depending on the need of the clients. I have worked on cases that required over 1500 slides requiring a quicker turn around time. I successfully achieved and maintained the daily productivity requirement of 30 slides per hour.

Part time Mohs Technician – Apex Dermatology, (November 2018- March2019)

I worked at Apex Dermatology for a brief time as a Part Time Mohs Technician. I performed frozen sections, with the use of a cryostat, on all fresh skin samples. I was the only Histotechnician employed by the clinic. My roles included grossing of tissue samples, dyeing, embedding samples in OCT, sectioning in a cryostat and manually conducting H&E staining and coverslipping. Our clinic scheduled up to 10 Mohs patients on the days I was scheduled. In less severe cases, I was able to clear a patient within 45mins of performing the method of frozen sectioning.

In addition, I was also required to write and update standard operating procedures and ensure all lab procedures adhered to CLIA standards.

Histotechnician I – Unipath LLC, American Pathology Partners

(November 2016- November 2018

Unipath is a clinical laboratory located in Denver Colorado. On average the lab would receive 1500 per day. I was employed as a Full-time 3rd shift Histotechnician and received my first training at Unipath as a Histotechnician. The large volume of specimen we received enabled me to develop speed and consistency in microtomy while maintaining an average of 30 to 40 blocks cut per hour and an average of 80 blocks per hour in embedding. I am able to maintain quality control of slides by matching them to their correlating slides and correcting any errors. I was trained to operate Leica peloris processors for processing procedures as well as the use of the Dako Artisan special stainers. In addition, I performed other laboratory related tasks such as recuts, coverslipping, decalcification of specimen, filing blocks and slides, troubleshooting, maintaining daily logs and Paperwork, maintain accurate patient information in electronic medical software.
