Assess lung sounds, set up oxygen devices, obtain pulse oximetry readings and interprets ABG

Assist with intubation and chest tube insertion

Provide care for patients with mechanical ventilation, ARDS/PEEP therapy, chest tubes, tracheostomy

Assess speech, sensory, motor skills including reflexes (Babinski and gag)

Identify and intervene for seizure

Provide care for patients with ICP monitoring, post-op neurosurgical, acute strokes or in a comatose state

GI/Renal/Endocrine

Insert NG, duodenal tubes

Provide care for patients with GI bleeding, hemodialysis, DKA, TPN, or enteral nutrition

Medications

Titrate vasoactive drugs

Calculate mcg/min and mcg/kg/min and use IV infusion pump to calculate drug doses

Use PCA and epidural pumps

Administer IV of several types of medications

Pain/ Wound Management

Assess pain levels and tolerance as well as wounds healing status

Provide care of patients with anesthesia/analgesia, IV conscious sedation, narcotic analgesia, or burns or pressure sores including sterile dressing changes
