TRW and related companies 06/1980 to 01/1997

Contributed to the business recovery of a 2,000-employee plant destroyed by electro-discharge machine fire. Improved the OSHA record and obtained a $400,000 workers compensation rebate for a non-union spring suspension and wheel plant by adapting ergonomic tools and safety practices.

TRW Heavy Duty Parts – Director Human Resources

250 non-union employee plant manufacturing heavy duty truck springs. The manufacturing processes included cutting and bending metal using high heat metal treatment to bend spring steel using oil and water quenching.

TRW Turbine Airfoils Division – Director Human Resources

1600 unionized employee plant manufacturing turbine engine blades and vanes used in the aerospace and energy generation industries. The manufacturing processes included:

Forging hot and cold

Dry and wet metal grinding

Electro discharge machining (EDM)

Chemical and heat-treated metal coatings

Precision tool making

Precision inspection processes/

This business experienced the largest plant fire in Harrisburg city history. I participated in the plant rebuild, which included negotiating a rebuild agreement with the union.

TRW Beatings Division – Employee Relations Director

400 unionized employee plant manufacturing anti-friction ball and roller bearings. The manufacturing processes included wet and dry metal grinding, metal turning, high heat treating and deep freeze metal manufacturing.

SAFETY/HEALTH & OSHA COMPLIANCE EXPERIENCES
