Resume:

Christie Gentry, LBSW

SOCIAL WORKER

Crossville, AL 256-***-**** ad49ak@r.postjobfree.com

Objective

To use my extensive social work knowledge and experience to further my career in advocacy or related fields in order to assist companies and clients in reaching their goals.

Experience

Marshall County Department of Human Resources Service Supervisor II 2009-2024

Supervised a Child Protective Services Unit, depending on staffing issues, of 4-8 workers at a time in addition to 1-2 case aides

Oversaw daily duties of workers and case aides while answering to the state office regarding their work and my own

Worker standard caseloads were set by the state office at a maximum of 18 per worker. Workers were consistently over case standard, sometimes by double. I advocated on behalf of the workers and the families to have more resources and also did hands on duties in order to assist them. My unit consistently retained workers despite the high turnover rate throughout the state.

I taught my workers how to react in tense and stressful situations in addition to showing them how to communicate effectively with families who are in crisis.

I provided training and guidance to my workers through daily contact, availability 24/7, conferences with workers, staff meetings, going to case meetings, guidance through court proceedings, home visits with workers, and giving them the physical and emotional support required in a very demanding job.

Marshall County department of Human Services Social Worker II 2004-2008

Assessed child abuse and child safety

Learned and adhered to DHR policy, both local and state

Completed case plans, family assessments, assessed underlying needs and made the appropriate community referrals in order to meet those needs. I made sure the families knew why DHR was involved and what our expectations were in order for the families to live independently of DHR involvement.

I filed court petitions, subpoena lists, court reports and testified in court. I completed on call duties after hours and made myself available to my supervisor at all times. I oftentimes went into dangerous situations, either with or without law enforcement.
