Career Synopsis:

After Graduating from University of BC in 1975, my wife and I purchased a fully operating farm in Sask. that I operated, farming 2000 acres of both cropland and pastureland, growing grain and managing a cow-calf operation. Accidental death of my wife in 1976 led to a major life change resulting in emigration from to Australia in 1981 where I had a broad-based career in finance and investment banking in both public and private companies.

In 2003, following my return, I became a successful Building Manager for a high-rise building in Vancouver’s West End to enable me to settle-in back in Canada. In early course the illness of my aging Father caused me to relocate to Collinwood, Ontario to assist my family. Following my father’s passing I went to work for Club Intrawest in a sales role, progressively in three locations, Blue Mountain, Ont., Zihuantanejo, Mexico and Panorama, B.C. Having decided to stay back in B.C., I became Owner Relations Manager at Mt. Panorama, B.C., managing the rental pool on behalf of some 430 owners of condos and town homes with a total of circa 3000 beds for rental by resort guests. I continued in that role for 4 years before returning to the BC lower mainland as CEO for what was to become Harness Racing BC. Under my guidance, an amalgamation of the Breeders Society and the Standardbred Assoc. was accomplished. Nevertheless, despite achieving that goal in one year, the Provincial Government chose to take the slot machine revenues at the track away from Harness Racing, severely limiting its operations. This negative development for the industry severely limited revenues available from and for harness racing and led to my resignation and ultimate return to Ontario.
