Medical Assistant
July 2018 - August 2020 Babysitter/Nanny
The Cox Family: Care for the 3 year old and 8 year old on weekends. The kids had indoor and outdoor activities for about 60 minutes. Prepared meals, confirmed it with the parents before serving. Coordinate bedtime or nap time preparation- bathing, potty, and face washing. Clean up the house before the parents came back home while kids were tucked in bed.
July 2021 - March 2022 I completed a program and an internship and had to complete 150 hours but I ended up doing 160 so for me I would say it took me a month or 2 because I did my internship in a CCMS/Pulmonary Clinic at Our Lady of the Lake. While I was there I learned how to take patients vital signs, take the patients to the exam room, used Epic to sign in the patients, went over the patient history, went over their medications list, calling patients to confirm appointment, check in and check out the patients, and letting the doctors know which room their patient is in. Each day I ended up being comfortable in what I needed to do and learning what I have to do as a medical assistant.
August 2022- March 2023 I worked at Ochsner on Jefferson Hwy at Main Campus for Adults and Pediatric Orthopedics clinics. I’ve done Spine, Trauma, and General clinics. I even traveled to different locations with providers and helped them out when an MA was needed. For Pediatric Orthopedics I helped keep the babies calm, helped parents out whenever they brought more than one kid, gave out stickers and toys, helped cast babies if help was needed, took vital signs, completed DME forms, and brace the child if needed too.
Aveanna Healthcare- I work there as an aide/cna. I work with kids, I clean G-Tube, give breathing treatments, pulse and heart rate, put the kids extensions on, give the kids their feeds, and flush after feeds.
