Day to day work: Resolved Linux service requests and incidents using “Servicenow” ticketing system following ITIL practices. Investigated alerts from production systems using HP Operations Manager monitoring systems, reviewed failing processes, suggested and implemented corrective actions according to SLA. Created scripts based on documentation from internal Business Analysts.

Participated in virtual server migration within VMWare and between different hardware to optimize performance 4-5 times per year.

Automated using Perl, Shell and secure protocols. Examples of development:

Automated Electronic Fund Transfer gateway from application towards 4 major Canadian Banks. Solution would transfer files via highly secure gateway server. Improved accuracy and made delivery predictability possible.

Automated night cycle processing and file movements. Project transformed Data Center's work tasks from large manual check lists to event monitoring. Significantly reduced labor cost, improved accuracy and speed. 500 new scripts developed.

Automated user administration tool for external clients on a common timeshare system. Decreased cost for clients for maintaining users.

Automated in house developed backup tool to support various tape devices to reduce run time, increase reliability and auditor friendliness.

Reviewed Perl, Ksh, and Bash scripts written by others. Dramatically reduced unnecessary hangs and terminations.
