Responsibilities:

Administer laws, regulations, and policies pertaining to TSA’s transportation security program with a focus on the utilization of layered security assets and techniques (e.g., canines, behavior detection, explosives assessment) to mitigate threats. The primary tasks of a DAFSD-TAP include protecting the traveling public by preventing dangerous or deadly objects from being transported on an aircraft or other transportation mode; participating in briefings concerning sensitive information; and communicating with subordinate supervisors and employees regarding any weaknesses in the security screening process and making recommendations for improvements.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Exercising authority with managerial responsibility over staff in a 24x7 environment

• Utilizing risk-based analysis to ensure effective scheduling of operations assets (e.g., Behavior Detection Officers, TSS-Es and Canine Handlers) to mitigate risk

• Making recommendations concerning significant internal and external program policy issues affecting the overall organization, such as scheduling, FTE allocation, selections, process control, developing performance criteria, and identifying, distributing, and balancing workload among employees

• Working collaboratively with other airport managers and Federal Security Directors as part of tactical and strategic planning process, including the development of deployment plans, investment analyses, capital budgets, and acquisition plans

• Providing professional guidance and expertise in monitoring and evaluation existing aviation operations security and related law enforcement programs, and in developing and implementing innovative approaches and long-term improvement to mitigate threats

Supervisory/Managerial duties includes serving as a first line supervisor for the organization.
