I am currently working in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia working for Egis Rail on a Joint venture with Parsons and Systra working on the Riyadh metro project (Package 01 Line 01&2), Line-1 is forty two km in length and consist of twenty six metro stations, two Depots, three park and rides and ten egress shafts.And Line-2 is twenty five km in length Red line runs east to west along King Abdullah Road consist of 14 Station 1 Depot, Two Egress Shafts and 1 park & Ride.The metro network covers the most densely populated areas, public facilities, educational, commercial and medical institutions. In addition, the network has links to King Khalid International Airport and King Abdullah Financial District, leading universities and other public transportation centres. The Riyadh Metro is a rapid transit system that is under construction in the city of Riyadh. It consists of six metro lines spanning a total length of 176 kilometers, with 85 stations. The project will cost
$22.5 billion to build. And is scheduled for a soft opening in late 2019, with the entire network is expected to be fully operational in mid-2021. The project includes the construction of an advanced center for the control and operation of the train traffic management to monitor all elements of the system, including stations, tracks, facilities, and systems As the HSE Engineer, I oversee Line 1 (Blue Line), which is 42Km in length and consists of 26 stations mega Interchange/Transfer station and 2 Depots and 3 Park & Rides. Role & Responsibilities:
I am reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the role's primary purpose to a Health and Safety Engineer working for the Joint Venture. Conducting daily site HSE inspections, monthly and quarterly Audits, conducting accommodation Audits in the contractor’s camps and prepare the reports. And also participating in annual system Audit of the project.
• Reviewing Procedure Method Statements and Risk Assessment submitted by contractors.
• Visiting work site to inspect processes, procedures, health, safety, and environment practices.
• Investigating if there has been a breach of HSE Plan, Procedures, and codes of practices.
• Conducting scheduled and unscheduled Joint HSE Inspection/Audits with resident Engineers and contractor’s construction management.
• Writing reports on results of inspections/ investigations and completing detailed paperwork.
• Verifying project files available to site personnel including copies of contractor’s training and medical monitoring records and site-specific safety procedures prior to start of contractor’s field operations.
• Participating in Pre-construction meeting and Weekly meeting with RMTC Project Team members and Contractor to highlighting the Risk involved in the upcoming program and providing solutions and suggestions to overcome the risks.
• Carryout schedule and unscheduled HSE audits and inspections and report to the project management/construction management team on any identified non-conformances for necessary action and correction by the violating party.
• Investigate direct, root/underlying causes of accidents/incidents, and advise recommendations to prevent recurrence of the same.
• Measure the HSE performance of Engineers’ and Contractors’ and advice on the actions necessary for improvement.
• Oversee/supervise the conduct of the Engineer’ and Contractors’ HSE and construction personnel.
• Proactively supervised contractor development and implementation of SOPs and Method Statements.
• Keep all document & logs update. Investigating precautions taken to prevent industrial diseases.
