Perform high pressure and general welding work mainly in operating plant/site using electric arc, oxygen and acetylene equipment and metal inert gas or tungsten inert gas. Responsibilities:

Receives verbal instructions, work orders. Sketches and drawings from Supervisors /contractor Foreman and arranges for necessary equipment, tools and materials. Ensure welding work permit are available prior to start a job.

Reads drawings, Sketches or symbol, marks or makes free hand layout on metal and prepares metal surfaces for welding. Select the correct type and gauge welding rods for specific types of materials such as carbon steel, ferrite, austenitic and stainless steel etc.

Operates electric arc welding machines and adjusts ampere and voltage welding. Operates oxygen-acetylene welding equipment connects regulator, torch and gas cylinders and adjust gas pressure.

Operates metal inert gas or tungsten inert gas welding equipment and weld materials such as heat treatment steel.

Uses disk grinders to back cut weld and drying oven for electrodes and applies pre and post-heat treatment techniques. Also applies correct tacking sequence of large diameter welds to prevent distortion.

Reports to Supervisor / Contractor Foreman works according to all defined specialized welding standards.

Performs other related duties such as assisting in training lower level welders and helpers, cleaning up job site after completion of work.
