Supporting at The Adult Recreation Therapy Centre (A.R.T.C.). The ARTC is an Adult Day Program, that sees older adults and adults living with compromised health at the Centre to offer recreation and therapeutic programs of interest. Volunteer responsibilities include assisting with planning and facilitating programs of interest for clients while offering respite and support for caregivers.

The A.R.T.C. supports vulnerable individuals, including older adults and adults with disabilities. This includes people with cognitive impairments, Parkinson’s Disease, Stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, frail and isolated older adults, and adults with developmental disabilities. I am directly responsible for the following:

Provide direct care and support to individuals including intellectual, physical, and developmental disabilities.

Develop and implement individualized support plans based on client needs, goals, and preferences.

Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, and medication administration.

Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes independence, empowerment, and social integration.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including other caregivers, healthcare professionals, and social workers, to ensure comprehensive care and support.

Monitor and document client progress, behaviors, and interventions according to regulatory standards and organizational policies.

Advocate for clients' rights, preferences, and choices in all aspects of care and decision-making processes.
