I established proper identity of patients, ensured accountability of specimens by labeling specimens with the patient’s name and identification number, ordering physician and date/time of collection. I used judgment in selection of the phlebotomy site depending upon the condition of the patient, age group, site and the type of test to be performed. I collected blood in the proper vacutainer tubes for testing using various sized needles, syringes, and /or butterflies in order to collect proper specimens for testing. Performed finger punctures on patients requiring glucose testing. I properly transported specimen to the appropriate areas within the laboratory and logs specimen into logbook. I followed Infection Control regulation in handling, storage, packing and disposal of biohazard material. Take appropriate first aid measures when needed. Project an image of professionalism in appearance and conduct at all times. Clean and disinfect rooms; inventories and stocks the rooms with supplies.
