PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Self-Employed 2007 – Present

Electrical Consultant

Worked for Customers on several projects to put the projects on track to be completed in a timeframe that was acceptable to the customer. I am usually called after others have not been successful in resolving electrical issues involving a project.

International Ship Repair, Tampa Fla. 2005 – 2007

International Ship Repair has comprehensive repair services including conversion capabilities for the lengthening and re-powering of ships. ISR has accomplished all facets of ship repair, including design, steel fabrication, pipe fabrication, electrical, piping, machinery, blasting, and coating.

Electrical Superintendent

Hired to expand the abilities of the electrical team through training and mentoring on an individual basis. The main mission was to repair and maintain the electrical equipment and expand the facility’s electrical infrastructure.

Repaired a Texaco tanker ship’s electrical generator by finding a wiring error on the resister bank through thermal imaging. It was determined the error happened ten years earlier when the ship was built in San Diego.

Tampa Bay Shipbuilding, Tampa Fla. 2001 – 2005

Tampa Ship is a full-service conversion, overhaul, and ship repair facility in Tampa, Florida. TBS’s main contract was building new double-hull ocean-going tankers. They also converted single-hull tankers into double-hull tankers. Also, specialists in vessel conversions, including lengthening, repowering, life extensions, and mission upgrades.

Maintenance Superintendent

Recruited for the Electrical Superintendent position but could not meet the deadline to fill the position because of my commitment to ASD’s hanging projects. Took a temporary position as Electric Foreman and then moved to the position of Maintenance Superintendent. This position required leading a team that was well diversified in multiple aspects of facility maintenance, from groundskeeper to troubleshooting the complex digital drives of cranes.

With A fifty-thousand-dollar budget, repaired a nonfunctioning gantry crane that was considered beyond repair. Consequently, I was transferred to the position of "Maintenance Superintendent.”

Ensured the reliability of equipment vital to the production projects by implementing a Planned Maintenance Tracking System (PMTS) utilizing Microsoft Access as the primary tracking tool.

Spearheaded, planned, and managed the design for refurbishing obsolete electric drives on the three bridge cranes making heavy lifts of ship sections being constructed in the hull assembly building. The new digital drives allowed for precise synchronization of lift, movement, and travel required for the movement of the five hundred-to-eight-hundred-ton loads that required five individual lift points. The new drives eliminated downtime due to systems failure and reduced the workforce required to make each lift by 75%.

Alaska Ship & Drydock, Ketchikan, Alaska 1999 – 2001

Alaska Ship & Drydock was formed as a private corporation whose mission was to perform Shipbuilding & Repairs in support of fleets operating in the southeast Alaska Inside Passage, North Pacific, and the Bering Sea. Vigor Industrial now owns and operates the facility.

Electrical Superintendent

Recruited into a role that would take the Electrical Department from a services department that’s mission was to supply temporary electric power, telephone, cable, and IT services on board ships and throughout the facility to one that could accomplish any shipboard electrical installation and repair.

Coordinated the transformation of the electrical department from a services-oriented department to one that successfully competed with the work of shipyard electrical departments throughout the United States.

Ensured continuity in projects from small repairs to complete conversions that changed the classification of the ships thus allowing their entry into foreign ports. Worked diligently with design engineers and regulatory agencies to ensure that proposed installations and modifications met all regulatory body’s requirements.

Served as a valuable member of the estimating team by producing complex and accurate electrical bids and project analyses. Used Microsoft Excel as my primary tool when creating my bid formula.

Used the information on the electrical bid as a baseline for managing projects. With the excel format, I created hookup sheets, cable pull sheets, Bulkhead penetration templates, etc. I also downloaded wire terminal markers, cable tags, and nameplate information to be used on excel compatible equipment for manufacturing of such.

Built relay and alarm panels using AutoCAD to design panel fronts to cover the front of the panels complete with the penetrations made by the nameplate manufacturing firm.

Created extensive operating instructions and troubleshooting procedures for installed equipment and systems.
