Introduction My education at Rutgers University has provided me with the opportunity to perform hands-on work as part of the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS). Our professors underscored the value of experience-based education; which included aspects of soil sampling and profiling, determining the quality of water sources by biotic indexing, and simple surveys of forests on campus to determine population dynamics of local vegetation. My experience at SEBS has also included more traditional professional laboratory work under sterile conditions, that included PCR and gel electrophoresis for DNA samples. ㅡ
