CO2 REMOVAL & METHANATION ( BENFIELD )

CO2 ABSORBER:

K2CO3 solution is used to absorb CO2 at 26 kg/cm2. Semi-lean solution is showered from middle at 117Co and lean solution showered from top at 95Co.Absorber consisting of 05 Bed of packing material

CO2 STRIPPER:

Two CO2 strippers having 03 Bed of packing material each having bubble cap trays. Operating pressure 0.5 kg/cm2

CO2 REBOILER:

04 Thermosyphon type Reboilers (02 of each stripper) are used to strip out CO2 and for heat input to the solution.

LOW HEAT SYSTEM:

Flash Vessel (having 04 Compartments & 04 Ejectors) LP Boiler (having a capacity of 10 ton/hr)

METHANATION:

Ni Catalyst, single bed is used to convert CO and CO2 in to Methane. Carbon Oxides at outlet gas are <10 ppm.

SOLUTION PUMP:

Three main pumps for semi lean solution having flow capacity 749.43m3/hr at 38 kg/cm2

Three pumps for lean solution having flow capacity 221 m3/hr at 42 kg/cm2

Two Hydraulic turbine used for drive lean solution pumps and supply low pressure rich solution to Stripper.

SYNTHESIS GAS COMPRESSOR:

Dual train of centrifugal compressor designed by “COOPER BESSEMER”.

Having three vertical split casings (23 stages) each train.

One is driven by General Electric Frame Five Gas turbine of 13400 HP.

2nd is driven by multistage condensing steam turbine of 16290 HP.

One compressor raised pressure of synthesis gas up to 165 kg/cm2.

Having makeup capacity 90,000 Nmc/hr and recycle capacity 4, 00,000 Nmc/hr.

AMMONIA SYNTHESIS LOOP:

Section consists of two loops with series of heat exchangers, two separators & chillers.

Operating pressure 165 kg/cm2 and temperature 350 0C.

Converters S-200 series.

Fe2O3 (Holder Topsoe Catalyst)

Natural draft startup heater with 06 auxiliary burners.

Including waste heat boilers producing 35 tons/hr steam at 11kg/cm2.

AMMONIA COMPRESSION & REFRIGERATION:

Operation experience of 12 stages COOPER BESSEMER.

Centrifugal compressor (up to 15 kg/cm2).

General Electric steam turbine 7200 rpm, 8012 hp.

Trison electronic controlling governor.

Four multi-stages Centrifugal pumps each of capacity 40 tons/hr transfer Ammonia to Storage UREA & DAP section.

Refrigeration loop have two operating pressure (3.5 kg/cm2 & 0.9 kg/cm2)

AMMONIA RECOVERY UNIT:

Recovers ammonia from purges of synthesis and refrigeration loops by

Absorption and stripping methods.

Absorber consists packed column with Rasching ring and operating

Pressure 7 kg/cm2

Stripper consists packed column with Paul ring and operating pressure19.5 kg/cm2

HYDROGEN RECOVERY UNIT:

High pressure absorber (110 kg/cm3)

Three set of membrane (Hydrogen Separator)

Two triplex plunger pumps (150 kg/cm2)

COMBUSTION GAS TURBINE UNIT (12 MW)

This combustion gas turbine of “GE FRAME-5” Model “LA-5001 12MW”.

It drives synthesis gas compressor. Control system is BAILY INFI-90. Vibration monitoring system is BENTLY NEVADA simple cycle, single shaft and exhaust used to heat recovery steam generation unit. (HRSG)
