Responsible for the medical care of approximately 500 inmates and subordinate staff. Provides nurse sick call, follows provider’s orders, emergencies, and administers medications. Takes medical history and physical wellness into account during initial screening processes for inmates, as well as verifying medication orders. Follows detoxification protocols as needed. Handles and directs scheduled care and emergent instances while also ensuring the inmate’s medical records are correctly documented.

Supervised and planned assignments for 35-45 licensed and unlicensed personnel. I gained experience with chronic disease clinics, new hire orientation, medication passes, delegations of duties to subordinate positions. I was responsible for ensuring professional nursing care and treatment was afforded to patients within medical policies, protocols, and consistent with Board of Nursing requirements, as well as conducting needs assessments while developing, implementing, and evaluating treatment plans and care to offenders. I gained experience with chronic disease clinics, new hire orientation, medication pass, and delegation of duties to subordinate personnel. I conducted nurse sick call according to policy and protocols of the institution. I also provided transcription of provider orders, provided patient education, and performed documentation of care within the inmate medical record for both scheduled and emergent appointments. I performed nursing assessments using clinical judgement and communication with camp providers as well as on call providers as needed.
