My primary research focus centers on advancing strategies to enhance soil fertility for crop production, with a specific emphasis on integrating geo-spatial techniques into soil science. Through a combination of on- station and on-farm experiments, I am dedicated to understanding and improving soil health, particularly investigating the influence of heavy metal presence on soil microbial quality indicators in the context of urban and peri-urban vegetable production. The overarching objective of my research is twofold: to raise awareness among farmers about the long-term sustainability of soil management practices and to employ geo-spatial techniques for precise mapping of soil nutrient distribution. This approach not only facilitates more accurate agricultural practices and resource management but also aims to optimize nutrient utilization efficiency, contributing to the improvement of farmers' livelihoods, food security, and environmental sustainability. Obianuju Chiamaka Emmanuel

Another facet of my research centers on the utilization of beneficial rhizobacteria for crop production as well as the integrated application of both chemical and organic fertilizers. This holistic approach, as opposed to relying solely on a single source of fertilizer, is designed to enhance soil health and promote overall soil improvement. In essence, my research constitutes a comprehensive effort towards responsible soil nutrient management, with a keen interest in leveraging geo-spatial techniques to advance the field of soil science. By integrating these various aspects, my work aims to establish a cohesive framework for sustainable agricultural practices that prioritize soil health, benefiting both farmers and the environment.
