Red Seal Heat and Frost Insulator

Objective: To obtain a fulltime position and continue to gain experience and knowledge of the insulator trade. In the commercial, institutional or industrial areas. I have been in the trade since September 2016 and have acquired 6100 working hours. I am capable of working independently or in a team environment.

Competencies include:

•Red Seal Heat and Frost Insulator

•Extensive knowledge of the products and applications of the trade

•Working at heights

•Working in confined spaces

•Working on AWP lifts (indoors and outdoors)

•Roughing in insulation

•Pattern Knowledge For Laying out metal Fittings etc.

•Installation of metal Jacketing with cut-outs etc.

•Interpretation of blueprints and specifications as required

•Able to lift up to 50lbs or more

In addition to the above I worked for 7 Months at Syncrude warehouse; duties included communicating with several General foreman and Trade foreman to determine their requirements. Picking orders, ordering materials, coordinating, organizing and timing when and where the orders where to be dropped. Use of the forklift, trucks and knowledge of the materials and site was required for this job. Additionally, I helped my foreman and fellow workers set up the job, materials and area.

Skills (on the job training):

-Install pipe covering, ridge board, flex wrap, calcium silicate, cellular glass (foam glass) and Mineral Wool.

- In patterns such as: miters, lags, shoes, pan outs, equal and un-equal tees, unusual fittings, Bevels and laterals (In various sizing for small and large bore piping.)

Installing straight run piping in sections or various, in styles such as staggered, lags or nested.

-Vapour barrier/jacketing’s such as, Aluminum and stainless steel, Corrugated sheets, ASJ, Canvas, and PVC.

-Pattern Knowledge: Equal and unequal tees, end caps (Crimp & Lock form) bevels Eccentric & Concentric Reducers, Gores, butterfly gores, Square to Square, Round to Square, Square to Rounds, Rectangle To Rectangle, Extruded Foam: Eccentric and Concentric Reducers, and elbows. Etc.

-Fittings such as: Miters, Equal and unequal tee’s, bevels, pan outs, oversized fittings on small body’s etc.

-Material knowledge: Majority with Calcium Silicate, Mineral wool and cellular glass, Pitt Wrap Aluminum, stainless steel jacketing’s, end caps, gores and bevels etc.

Securing with wire, tape, bands and mastic. Sealing with high and low temp chalking.

Estimator Knowledge; Fairly new to the estimator experience, Knowledge In reading Isometrics and Using Specification as ruling body. Experience in Material Take off’s.

Additional Experience; required to pull permits for own job, Helping out foremen as a lead hand. Helping with organizing and set up jobs, as well as finishing jobs on time and coordinating with the Shell plant owners for each unit. Knowledge in LOTO and Pulling permits for specific units and the responsibilities that come with it.
