Industrial Maintenance Millwright Co-op (Cranes) June 2022 – August 2022 Stelco Inc., 386 Wilcox Street, Hamilton, ON

o Engage in diagnosing complex mechanical issues, playing a pivotal role in the progress of maintaining industrial system.

o Perform a pre-start safety inspection before operating any machinery or vehicles. o Check every safety measure before using equipment.

o for a grinding machine, check the grinding wheel thickness and durability. o Always check if there are any other people working nearby and if there is someone in the vicinity always taken safety measures for them as well. o Before using the remote operated gantry crane, make sure there is nothing wrong with the remote or battery, there is nothing on the rails etc. o Always make sure to wear proper PPE before entering the workspace. o Before the use of any chemicals always use the proper gloves, safety glasses and face shields.

• Trained to do the preventive maintenance on a crane. o During that time, used all the PPE required. o Aways made sure to put my safety lock on the lockbox. o Learned about what things are to be looked for on a crane during a PM. o The interesting thing I learned was “Always find something to fix on a crane in PMs.” o The PM is all about safety inspections. • Also trained to do the annual maintenance on a crane. o In an annual inspection we check all the parts deeply and thoroughly to make sure there is nothing broken or worn in there like couplings, wheels, gearboxes, etc. o During an annual, usually it starts from the hook and the hook block. Also learned about what are the main components that’s going to be checked for cracks, wears, and broken offs.

• Learned how to use the equipment and tools properly. o Equipment like grinders, buffers, drill, hydraulic jacks, etc.
