Drift car build

During the pandemic in 2022 i acquired a dilapidated race car. From June though December I rebuilt the car with guidance from family and parents. I was exposed to and was hands on with every aspect of the build. I began by dismantling every thing on the car so that it was just a shell. From there I began to visit junkyards and collect doors, bumpers, fenders etc and performed body work, sanding, applying filler, more sanding and painting. We customized the front end to adapt a stage 3 angle kit and the rear end to have a weld in Panhard bar. The suspension was then complimented with a coil over conversion. My father had a used motor and transmission that I was able to use for the project. I used a sandblaster and ultrasonic machine to clean every accessory and bolt. I then proceeded to painted, assembled and install. I was fascinated with auto wrap and got the opportunity to wrap the entire vehicle by myself. Learning to drive the car was a whole other experience. Drift Car Racing

My goal for building the Drift was to begin driving it at Sonmona Raceway's biggest annual event, Winter Jam Dec. 2020. I had successful built the car in time for the event but the event was cancels due to Covid concerns. My first time behind the wheel was at an event at Stockton Raceway. It was a large paddock with cones outlining the course. My previous experience beside normally driving a car had on been virtual. No video game can prepare you for the sheer thrill of revving up that motor and dropping that clutch for the first time. It was amazing. Since then I have driven the Thunder Hill road course, numerous Wednesday nights and a couple Winter Jams at Sonoma Raceway. Drifting is more than just doing donuts. I've learned that its a skill, that commands respect and confidence. Driving in a controlled environment door to door with others at high speeds isn't for everyone.
