Focus area: fostering curiosity about the natural world through a fun toy in children aged 4-7
Engaged in interviews, user research, praying mantis research to create a research-based design
Designed, 3D printed, and sanded/finished an original, anatomically accurate 15” praying mantis in Fusion360 with working joints that a child can build
Iterated joint tolerances and joint concepts through Fusion360 and 3D printing
Carry Cane Fall 2023
Focus area: allowing seniors to regain physical mobility and confidence after developing a fear of falling
Investigated the target users through personas, journey mapping, scientific studies, blogs, written interviews, and existing product research
Compiled a research basis by studying scholarly articles on fear of falling, gait mechanics, cane usage, muscle atrophy, mentality of seniors, etc.
Optimized and developed two cane grip types, a tip with tread, and easy collapsibility/portability through research-backed sketch and model iterations
Carved and sanded a final wooden cane prototype with a posture-enhancing grip, secondary grip, unique collapsibility and deployment inspired by avalanche probe mechanisms that all address focus area
