Experience Summary

Architecture, Engineering & Operations Solutions:

Led a team of database administrators and engineers, ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of the database to support business operations effectively. We enforce standards, policies, and procedures, managing database infrastructure. Implement backup and disaster recovery strategies. Plan and automate timely patching and upgrades to keep up with the security standards. Manage multiple projects, including EPIC, Datamart, MDM, and Data warehouse migration to Cloud. Migrated Tier 1 Media and Hospitality databases to AWS-EC2 and Tier 2 databases to AWS-RDS, redesigned EBS database infrastructure by de-racking the same from the traditional ASM platform, and migrated to AWS-EC2 server, providing huge cost savings. Also migrated Oracle Data guard and Hyperion databases to OCI VM and reporting to Autonomous Database.

Migrated health care application databases to Azure-VM and Tier 2 databases to Azure MSSQL MI. Achieved uptime of 99.99% and increased automation efforts by implementing and managing critical systems to drive seamless integration between internal and external systems. Accountable for and supporting 60+ Applications and 700+ Databases.

Cloud Management:

Cloud Migration: Spearheaded the project gathering requirements from all vendors, app owners, Infrastructure, Database, Middleware, and License requirements and developed a Blueprint for a migration path to AWS, Azure, and OCI Cloud platforms. Infrastructure Planning: Gathered usage of the h/w, checked with the evaluation tool and created proper compute in the cloud infrastructure. This helped in saving $2m between old and new h/w in the cloud platform.

Data Center Migration: Create multiple groups based on the business priorities and infrastructure readiness; we started migrating the components and performed Island test, before decommissioning the old data center.

DR/HA Setup-Drills: Created High Availability based on a couple of strategies by utilizing Multi-AZ, Cloud Endure Replication based on the Application RTO/RPO requirements. Automation: All repetitive tasks were automated if there were no dependencies on other applications/vendors.

Cost Savings: Analyzed reports on the usage of the new h/w in the cloud after 30 days of the post-go live acted on resizing the instances, and saved more than 30% of the h/w cost. Also deployed Reserved Instance and added an additional 35% of the cost savings for the following year. Operation Efficiencies: Critical Planning played a major role in this and set a proper timeline for every project’s deliverables to meet the deadline.

Observability: Worked with multiple POC and deployed Datadog, App Dynamics, for all our metrics & alert needs, which is sourced from cloud watch. Additionally implemented many centralized jobs to keep our blind spots visible. Adopted tools to perform scramble operations of PCI/PII/PHI data and encrypt while refreshing lower environments.

DevOps: Deployed PVCS, ClearCase, and Bitbucket tools for version control and code promotion; this created error-free production deployments.

Support Strategy: Driven challenges of 24x7 and Managed multiple groups of on and off-shore Support teams to drive business involving different teams, such as Infrastructure, Database, Middleware, Storage

& Network Support. Have implemented a cross-training strategy and given the opportunity for the team to work on Sandbox for new Service/POC required for supporting every project need. Travel to multiple GEO locations to set up onshore & offshore model to implement & guarantee 24x7 support within their local working hours. Which reduced the attrition level from 26% to 7%. Offshore Mgmt: Check on the metrics based on the ticketing system and project deliverables and resize the team based on future requirements.

Deliverables: Participate in all the status calls, review ticketing system reports, and set clear expectations with the teams for adhering to the SLA.

Vendor Mgmt: Optimize provider evaluation, contract negotiation, and finale to fit within the planned budget. Responsible for handling Oracle ULA, MSSQL, RHEL, and Tools Licenses. Track all the license requirements and plan to renew them in a timely manner. Financial Planning: Directly managing over $6m on the resources, $3m on Licenses, and about $2m on vendors and tools.
