Product Design Engineer III / Manager, New Product Introduction - Andersen Windows and Doors Feb 2017 – Present Leadership Experience

• Managing team of eight engineers, technicians, CAD, and contract individuals on new product development for window projects

• Led engineering team for 10-month cross functional project which removed 4 visible hardware brackets and replaced them with 2 hidden brackets which decreased window unit cost while maintaining rated product performance

• Completed product life testing of multiple product lines, performed root cause failure analysis, and completed design changes

• Designed and tested new injection-molded end-sealing part and improved installation process for mulled windows which decreased air and water infiltration by over 20% while improving exterior aesthetics

• On-going work with suppliers to bring in new parts, approve FAIR/PPAPs, and lead cross-functional team in developing and evaluating new qualification tool for new parts

• FMEA and risk management facilitator for Andersen for past 3 years, active participant in FMEAs for 8 years, contributed to over 40 FMEA sessions

• Lead engineer for glass construction conversion of product series which saved 1.2M per year while decreasing window deflection under high wind conditions

• Represents R&D for the Double Hung windows product platform as subject matter expert. Partners with Manufacturing, Quality, and Marketing to lead projects improving performance, cost, manufacturability, and supply continuity

• Supports design decisions by utilizing rigorous engineering tools while gaining experience with PLM, FMEA, CAPA, statistical problem-solving techniques and development of material specifications and test standards

• Designed, tested, and implemented a new hardware support clip for the 400 Series DH product line which reduced cost by 20% and solved an ergonomic issue seen on the production line

• Created new formula design sheets for 400 Series product line which dictates to manufacturing and IT systems all parts, part lengths, end fabrication and hole locations, and quantities of parts used to make entire window INVOLVEMENT
