PRE-OPERATIVE

• Gathers, checks, opens supplies, and equipment needed for the surgical procedure.

• Preforms surgical scrub and donning gown and gloves

• Sets up the sterile back table and mayo-stand with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medication-solution needed for the procedure

• Performs all counts required with circulator

• Assists team members with gowning and gloving

• Participates in surgical site and patient verification during timeout of procedure INTRA-OPERATIVE

• Anticipates the needs of the surgeon by passing instruments and supplies during procedure

• Measures and passes medication, hemostatic agents and irrigation solutions

• Prepares and passes off specimens as appropriate

• Performs additional counts as necessary

POST-OPERATIVE

• Breaks down the sterile fields and proper disposal of sharps

• Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal externalization

• Updates and keeps accurate records of surgeons preference Certifications
