Work summary

I am Devin Smith. I have recently attended East Central Community College’s electrical lineman program. I obtained my OSHA 10 card, and first aid CPR card. While in class I understood and completed the basics of climbing wooden poles, and installing aerial framing such as crossarms, installer and cutouts. I learned how to use extendo sticks in a proper way. I am not afraid of heights. I have experience of working at night. I also got my certification in carpentry at Newton high school's career center's two year program, where I learned the basics of construction and carpentry. I was chosen by my instructor to travel to Jones community college to compete in competitions with other schools. I had to read blueprints and build a frame of a miniature house. I have been working outside since I was 12. I enjoy working outside with my hands, and not stopping until what I have to do gets completed. Education

I graduated from Newton High School in May of 2023. I graduated number seven in my graduating class of 70. I finished with the highest grade average in their career center's carpentry class. While being apart of their SkillsUSA program. I graduated with an Beta club, National Honors Society, Mississippi Department of Education, Zeta Phi Beta, and Mississippi Scholars sponsorship.

● I can properly climb up and down a pole using fall restraint and arrest system.

● I can proficiently roll up a hand line and rope blocks

● I can properly utilize chain hoist and rope blocks in proper ways.

EXPERIENCE

I have worked in landscaping, managing 15 yards in the Newton county area from 2016 to present.

● I was responsible for trimming hedges.

● I was also responsible for cutting grass using a riding lawnmower I work as a custodian for my High School the summer after my junior year

● I waxed and striped the floors

● I also would fix broken equipment around the school. My classmate and I started our own company called D&B carpentry, constructing and selling dog houses, and doing small repairs on homes from 2022 to present.

● I would be responsible for gathering the materials we would need.

● I would plan out and frame what we had to do before we started working.

I also worked at Pizza Hut as a delivery driver from August 2022 to present.

● I had to bring customers their deliveries in a safe and fast manner.

● I would also cook, clean, prep, take orders, and stock the freezers

I worked for Sanico as a sales representative out of Lake Ms.

● I solded cleaning materials to restaurants and stores.

● I also sold clothing materials to stores for Sanico.

● I would also drive the delivery van to deliver the materials to the industries.

Leadership

● I gathered food, water, and toiletries with my teacher and eight other students in highschool and took it to Rolling Fork Ms to give to the people that were affected by the devastating tornadoes that went through their town.

● I volunteer my time to speak at churches when one has asked me to be the speaker for the occasion.
