OBJECTIVE

To obtain a well-compensated supervisory or trainer position in a security company, or accept a position as an in house security officer.

EXPERIENCE

Allied Universal 2021-Present, Employed as a Security Officer

Personal Philosophy in action: as the first line of protection, I talk to people who are at the margins of society, like the mentally ill, or isolated from the larger society, like caregivers or new mothers in stores. I have the opportunity to uplift and encourage people who may not have heard a kind word in a long time. Making an environment secure is about preventing problems AND actively promoting positivity.

Multi Site Security Officer with Allied Universal, Honolulu

Presently maintain a post at a City & County of Honolulu--Refuse, Honolulu Corporation Yard, site for two years, primarily in the swing shift but also in the morning and overnight.

Responsible for training new hires to familiarize them with Standard Operating Procedures and Post Orders from the client and from Allied. I have become adept at balancing the expectations of the client and the company, even when the expectations differ, for example, understanding the distinction between security and loss prevention, and establishing firm boundaries about what is and is not, my role.

Train current staff in the new Mercury phone system for clocking in and out, focusing on creating lessons for people who speak English as a second language and who are only minimally computer literate.

Pursued voluntary online training offered by Allied for security officers

To maximize experiential on-the -job training, pursued posts at more than 60 different sites over the past two years, residential, commercial, educational, City & County, high end retail/strip malls, special events, and Waikiki hotels.

Through my independent efforts to train myself with diverse experiences and populations, and my use of reliable transportation and communication, I have become the go-to officer, who can be contacted without notice at any time. I can work any shift, anywhere on the island, indoors or outdoors, high tech or no tech, with the homeless and mentally ill, individually or in a group—and I can train new comers in these capacities.

Dispatcher at Kahala Mall, which demands radio communication with the officers about what they need, and giving them information from the 16 cameras that must be simultaneously monitored in real time. Learned the proper procedure for sharing the video data with the public.

Extensive experience partnering with the Honolulu Police Department and paramedics and writing the accompanying incident reports when dealing with situations.

partial list of sites covered across Oahu:

1.University of Hawaii: Medical school, UH West Oahu, KCC

Multi Site Security Officer for KT Protection 2023-2024

*KT Protection is a small local security company that I joined to have supplementary income. They differ from Allied in that they emphasize incident reports, date and time stamped photographic records of sites, and training by management. I learned how to pull as much knowledge as possible from the managers who are available to train officers the first time they work a site and during supervision.

*Incidentally, I learned how to stand firm in salary negotiations and/or expectations, and I found that it is possible to walk away when salary promises are not kept. Now, when I take a job I know how to be sure about compensation, thus solidifying my commitment to any position I accept and to my own well-being.

Mandara Spa at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, Spa tech with security elements.

*Pre pandemic, I worked with the massage therapists to guide clients through the appointment process. This guidance was a subtle opportunity to promote products and I came up with a new system to boost sales.

*There were security elements to the spa tech position because we handled complaints, intervened in altercations in the spa, and additionally supervised the crowd at the Ali’I pool which is actually the origin of the weekly fireworks. I learned how to move over 300 people out of the pool area before 8:30 p.m., many of whom were intoxicated, and I cleared the area within minutes working alone. I never needed to call the actual security staff for assistance and I had the area clear in under 10 minutes every week.
